Description

“Getting Your Feet Wet: Enhancing Fish and Wildlife Habitat on Your Property” Webinar Offered by the PCSWCD Piscataquis Soil and Water Conservation District (PCSWCD) is hosting the “Getting Your Feet Wet:” Enhancing Fish and Wildlife Habitat on Your Property Zoom Webinar on April 22nd, from 9:00AM to 10:30AM. Join us for a discussion about taking the first steps in stream restoration by learning how maintaining “Stream Smart” road crossings on your property can benefit you as a landowner. This workshop will introduce you to the importance of free-flowing streams, ways to enhance fish and wildlife habitat, the “Stream Smart” rules of building crossings, cost and maintenance benefits of these crossings and how PCSWCD can evaluate your crossings and provide other technical assistance. PCSWCD’s own Stream Restoration Project Manager, Emily Dickison, will lead the discussion and provide information about how wildlife, like wood turtles, can benefit from dry passage under bridges. Learn from Natural Resource Conservation Service’s (NRCS) Aquatic Restoration Engineer, Heidi Bunn, as she explains how “Stream Smart” structures reestablish natural stream habitat. Eileen Bader Hall with The Nature Conservancy (TNC) will outline stream crossing conservation work occurring throughout the state. We will also address how private land managers benefit from removing stream barriers on their road systems. In addition to hearing information directly from these folks working on stream conservation work, this webinar will provide details about funding opportunities that may be available to aid in the engineering and construction of road-stream crossings! The webinar has a minimum suggested donation and pre-registration required to attend.
