On April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse will cross North and Central America creating a “path of totality,” a narrow ribbon that crosses northward out of Mexico to traverse Texas and other states before curving eastward to pass over Cleveland, Buffalo, Plattsburgh, NY, and Burlington, VT. Then, the Moon’s shadow heads rightward across northern New Hampshire and Northern Maine, even skimming parts of several Canadian provinces. During a total solar eclipse, the Moon completely blocks the Sun while it passes between the Sun and Earth. The sky will darken as if it were dawn or dusk and those standing in the path of totality may see the Sun’s outer atmosphere (the corona) if weather permits.
The April total solar eclipse travels an impressive 100-mile-wide and will be the most-watched celestial event in our lifetime!
Come join the Piscataquis County Soil & Water Conservation District (PCSWCD) who will be hosting a Solar Eclipse Viewing Party at the Law Farm Nature Trails from 2-4pm located off Lee Cemetery Rd in Dover-Foxcroft at the Outdoor classroom.
The Law Farm is the perfect place to gather as we come together in the path of totality to view the solar eclipse, which won't be seen again until August 12, 2045! PCSWCD is prepared by having additional parking, amenities, the Outdoor Classroom, an outdoor fire and light refreshments available while they last!
Get your admission tickets by donation early and save your special spot to view the eclipse! PCSWCD will be providing CE & ISO Eclipse viewing glasses that are available with your ticket and will only be able to host a limited number of people due to parking and road conditions- so get your tickets NOW!
If you have any further questions please reach out to info@piscataquisswcd.org. There will be additional information emailed to you when you register so check your inbox or spam box for a response from us with directions and parking instructions!
We look forward to partying with you! ~PCSWCD Staff and Board
