Class description : Learn to create clay gargoyles and imaginative wall masks in clay.
Ceramic sculptor Randy Fein will guide you on your creative journey in clay .She will demonstrate how to build hollow forms from slabs and other basic pottery making techniques including pinching and free form modeling. Participants will develop imaginative human or animal- like themed faces and heads. Your unique art work will be designed to be hung on an interior or exterior wall.
Bring your imagination to discover whimsy and individual artistic interpretation in clay sculpture. Students may select to bring images or drawings to inspire their design. All levels of experience are welcome to attend.
Artist background: Randy Fein is an accomplished ceramic sculptor and arts educator who has lead workshops and created clay sculpture installations during her professional career spanning over thirty five years.She has taught the art of ceramics at Babson College, in Wellesley, Massachusetts; Castleton State college in Castleton; Vermont; Unity College in Unity, Maine; and at Haystack School of Craft in Deer Isle, Maine. Her ceramic relief installations are in the collections of numerous institutions including: Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, Maine; Maine Medical Center in Portland , ME., University of Southern Maine in Portland, Maine; Babson College in Wellesley, MA., and Castleton State College in Castleton, Vermont.
