SUMMARY:Grafting Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Piscataquis County Soil & Water Conservation District (PCSWCD) will be hosting an Apple Grafting Workshop on March 30th\, 10-2PM with our friend\, CJ Walke. CJ has worked with PCSWCD for 10 years and has an impressive background in orchard management and is currently Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association's (MOFGA) Orchard Programs Manager. This event will be held at the Monson Community Health Center Gymnasium in Monson\, ME. Workshop participants will primarily work with apple rootstock and scion wood\, practicing the whip and tongue technique\, with examples of other grafting methods. At the end of the workshop\, participants will take home 5 young apple trees\, half of either Antonovka standard or M111 or Bud118 semi-dwarf\, grafted by their own hands and care of these young trees will also be discussed. Registration costs will cover the materials needed for the workshop.
